Spyker B6 Venator Treads Out in the Open at the Geneva Motor Show

Weve always appreciated Spyker for their unconventional aircraft-inspired designs and the level of detail and craftsmanship put into their interiors. Thankfully, their all-new B6 Venator Concept, revealed in Geneva is more of the same. If you know their older cars, then taking one look at this will immediately tell you what this is.

The B6 is a compact, Porsche Boxster-sized car, with its engine mounted in the middle of its all-aluminium chassis clad in carbon fiber. Providing the cars motivation is a V6 engine, which they say produces in excess of 375 hp.

The power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox, which can also be operated via the exposed-linkage gear lever (a Spyker trademark) or paddles located behind the steering wheel.

Inside the B6 Venator, the airplane-inspired passenger compartment thoroughly deserves being called a "cockpit". Aside from the funky design, future owners of the car will be pleased to know that all the leather used to upholster the interior goes through a "special tanning process" just so the richness of the color finish is just that little bit richer.

The start of production is planned for beginning of 2014, and deliveries to Europe, the Middle East and Asia will start soon after. The US is also getting the B6 next year; however, buyers will have to wait until autumn. The price is expected to be roughly the equivalent of between $125,000 to $150,000 (€95,000 to €115,000).

2014 Audi S3 convertible caught testing in the snow

2014 Audi S3 convertible caught testing in the snow
-

Slowly the German brand introduces new variants of the A3, but before that each vehicle has to be tested in low and high temperatures. And that is what we have here, the Audi A3 convertible, but this time it isnt based on the hatchback but on the soon to be introduced sedan.
And this is also the fastest version, the S3, that will have a new 2.0liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with 296hp and 380Nm (280lb/ft) of torque. This engine will be available with a manual or a dual-clutch transmission, possibly with the four-wheel drive quattro system.
One advantage of being based on the A3 sedan, which rides on a larger MQB platform, is the bigger space for luggage and rear passengers

Peugeot GM may have joint activities in India

PSA Peugeot Citroen maybe scripting a new India entry plan through its global alliance with GM.

Peugeot-GM may have joint activities in India

PSA Peugeot Citroën’s India plans may have been scuttled by the sharp business slowdown in Europe, but it may be scripting a new India entry plan through its global alliance with General Motors.
In a joint statement, the partners have announced their intention for new additional global initiatives which include ‘exploration of product and industrial initiatives in Latin America or other growth markets. “India could be one of the growth markets,” a PSA Peugeot Citroën official told our sister magazine, Autocar Professional.

PSA Peugeot Citroën may tap its global EB engine to drive some of the products. The EB engine range is available in 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre options, which make it suitable for markets like India. The EB is a three-cylinder engine launched late last year. The alliance partners will co-develop a next generation of high-performance, efficient and small petrol engines derived from the EB engine programme. “The next generation of the EB engine will be developed to meet the Euro 7 norms which will come into effect in a few years,” said the company official.

The immediate focus of the alliance partners will be to work on three common vehicle platforms to be shared by both groups. They are:

1. A joint programme for a C-MPV1 for Opel/Vauxhall and a C-CUV2 for the Peugeot brand.

2. A joint MPV3 programme for the B-segment for both groups.

3. Co-development of an upgraded low CO2 B-segment platform to feed Opel/Vauxhall and PSA’s next generation of cars in Europe and other regions.

The first vehicles resulting from this cooperation are expected to be launched in 2016.

Daly and Jinkawa win in MRF Challenge

With tally leader Jordan King absent, the two drivers managed pole to flag victories.

Daly and Jinkawa win in MRF Challenge American Conor Daly and Japanese Yuudai Jinkawa won one race apiece on second day of round two of the MRF International Challenge, running as a part of the 2012 Sidvin Festival of Speed at the Buddh International Circuit.
Daly, who was on pole for race one, got a clean start and was never really troubled for the lead while several drivers contested for second and third – including Alice Powell and Luciano Bacheta. Yesterday’s winner and tally leader Jordan King was absent from proceedings as he had to fly back to the UK to attend the 2012 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award ceremony in London, where he is one of the five finalists.
Ultimately it was GP 3 racer Alice Powell and F2 driver Hector Hurst who finished second and third respectively behind Daly.
Race two featured a top-six reversed-grid and it was Indian APRC driver Gaurav Gill who was on pole after finishing a credible sixth in race one, ahead of experienced single-seater compatriots Parthiva Sureshwaran and Parth Ghorpade.
After losing a place to Japanese Yuudai Jinkawa who was involved in a massive shunt with Tom Gladdis yesterday, Gill was doing well to hold second despite some quicker cars behind him putting him under immense pressure. However, a sudden tyre issue with the front left surfaced and he had back right off and pit to change tyres, putting him out of contention.
Sixth-placed starter Conor Daly had lost some places at the start but was recovering well and was in fifth place behind Hector Hurst when he suddenly clipped the back of the British driver at the approach to turn four and broke his front suspension.
Ultimately, Jinkawa was followed home by Noel Jammal and Sam Dejonghe in second and third to round off the podium.
The MRF International Challenge will return to its home base at the Chennai circuit for the final two rounds in February.
RESULTS:
Race one:
Conor Daly
Alice Powell
Hector Hurst

Race two:
Yuudi Jinkawa
Noel Jammal
Sam Dejonghe

Short News China will overtake Europe in automobile production Reviews

In reality this is not something unexpected, China is one of, if not the largest emerging market in the world, so it was expected that one day the number of cars produced in the worlds most populous country with about 1.34 billion people, surpass those produced in Europe.

And according to the projection made by consultancy firms IHS, LMC Auto and PwC, and investment banks UBS and Credit Suisse, that will happen this year. China will produce 19.6 million passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, while Europe will reach 18.3 million. in 2012, Europe produced 18.9 million, and China 17.8 million units.
And the European values include Russia and Turkey for a population of 715 million. Fortunately most European car companies have partnerships with Chinese companies and will be able to cushion losses due the contraction of the European market.

web630 166mm 450x277 1949 Ferrari 166 MM Touring Barchetta up for grabs from RM Auctions in Arizona
As far as Ferraris go, it doesn’t get more authentic than this. What you’re looking at is a 1949 Ferrari 166 MM– the first model made by Enzo Ferrari after setting up shop under his own name – with custom Barchetta coachwork by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. And it’s going up for auction.
Chassis number 0024 M – the 10th of only 25 examples made – was originally displayed at the 1949 Paris Motor Show in Argentina’s official racing colors, yellow and blue, before being sent off to South America to win the 1950 Mar del Plata. True to its name, it was also campaigned in the 1951 Mille Miglia rally, and has since undergone a thorough restoration – including the red paint job you see here.
This authentic piece of Ferrari history is set to cross the block at RM Auctions’ event in Arizona on January 20th, where it is expected to fetch upwards of $2 million. Details in the press release after the jump.

Upcoming Cars in 2012 BMW 1 series Coupe and Convertible

Upcoming Cars in 2012 BMW 1-series Coupe and Convertible

BMW today announced several modifications to the 2012 BMW 1 Series Coupe that accentuate efficiency and premium quality. The unmistakable profile of the 1 Series Coupe, which represents the purest expression of BMW DNA is now sharper than ever. The new design of the front fascia on the 128i includes BMW’s innovative Air Curtain that counters turbulence near the wheel arches and so reduces the aerodynamic resistance of the vehicle. New exterior design accents have been incorporated into the headlight and tail light clusters.
2012 BMW 1 Series
The 135i can be equipped with BMW’s 7-speed Double Clutch Transmission (DCT), as featured on the BMW Z4 Roadster. Equipped with DCT, the 135i Coupe will accomplish the 0-60 mph sprint in a scorching 5.0 seconds. A 6-speed Steptronic automatic remains optional on the 128i. So equipped, the 128i Coupe runs 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds, or 6.1 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual transmission.

We’ve been longing for an M version of BMW’s 1 Series coupe since the 1 Series tii concept made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show back in 2007. Finally, recent spy photos point to this coming true, most likely by 2011 in Europe and 2012 in North America. A source at BMW told us two things regarding a 1 Series M: First, that “there seems to be something to the rumors.” And second, if it happens, it will be during the North American coupe’s current life cycle, which puts it no later than the 2013 model year.
