Lightly Restyled 2013 Citroen C3 Hatch Heads to Geneva Motor Show
The Geneva motor show will mark the world debut of the restyled C3, if you believe Citroën, or European debut if you take into consideration the updated C3 presented in Brazil last summer.

On the outside, the European C3 gains the same suit of cosmetic upgrades as the Brazilian model including a new fascia with a double chevron grille and bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights, plus new tail light clusters combined with new reflectors set underneath the rear bumper. An available new Ink blue body paint completes the exterior revisions.
Stepping into the interior, there are new dashboard strips in matt black, brown or Moondust grey, which match the updated upholstery.
Citroën is also enhancing the C3s range with a new pair of PureTech 3-cylinder petrol engines with a 1.0 or 1.2-liter displacement and outputs of 67hp (68PS) and 81hp (82PS) respectively, borrowed from the new Peugeot 208.
The VTi 68 and VTi 82 PureTech engines return a fuel economy between 62.8 and 65.7mpg UK (4.5lt – 4.3lt/100km), and CO2 emissions between 99 and 104g/km.
A VTi 120 (118hp) petrol engine is also available with a manual or automatic gearbox, as are four diesel units, the HDi 70, e-HDi 70, HDi 90 and e-HDi 115.
European sales will begin after the Geneva Auto Salon, with the C3 facelift to arrive in the UK this summer.

SRT Announces Return to Le Mans 24 Hour Race with New Viper GTS R
Even SRT boss Ralph Gilles has admitted that the previous Vipers had an “axe-murderer” kind of demeanor but, despite that, the “snake” has had been quite successful in racing, competing against the best production-based rivals in the world and beating them not only in America but across the globe, too.

One of its greatest triumphs has been finishing in the first two places in its class for three years in a row, from 1998 to 2000, in the most prestigious endurance race in the world: the 24 Hours or Le Mans.
2013 is heralding the return of the Viper to La Sarthe, as SRT Motorsports will field two GTS-R racers in the LM GTE Pro class of the race that will take place on June 22-23.
“Racing is truly a part of the illustrious history of Viper and a proving ground for the SRT brand”, commended Gilles. “Historically, the Viper GTS-R has enjoyed great success at Le Mans, so we couldn’t be more excited and proud to accept the challenge to return to France”.
The new racer is based on the 2013 Viper GTS and has been developed by SRT Motorsports in cooperation with Riley Technologies. It made its debut last year in Mid-Ohio, as a part of a four-race test in order for a full-on assault on the GT class of the 2013 American Le Mans Series (ALMS).

Land Rover DC100 inches closer to reality
Replacement for the iconic Defender will blend aesthetic form with utilitarian function

The new Defender can do to the Land Rover badge and image globally what the Evoque did for the Range Rover. That is the view of Land Rover’s design director, Gerry McGovern.
It is now over a year since Land Rover revealed the DC100 concept and began touring it worldwide at shows, getting feedback. “The concept got the thumbs-up,” said McGovern, “and 90 per cent of the 250,000 people we spoke to loved it.”
McGovern said design work on the Defender replacement had progressed and various different concepts had been looked at internally in addition to the DC100, ahead of a planned introduction in “the middle of the decade”.
He believes the “new Defender can do for Land Rover what the Evoque did for Range Rover”, bringing a new, more style-conscious buyer to the Defender and the Land Rover brand.
Although style is promised, it will not be at the expense of function. “We need a new Defender for a new generation,” said McGovern, “so it has to be relevant and desirable to a modern audience, but it has to have the essence of the Defender. James Bond needs to be able to kick the hell out of it and it will still be able to get up for more.”
McGovern understands the sensitivity of the new Defender project due to the current car’s staunch fan base, but he said it couldn’t “be developed through rose-tinted spectacles”.
He said: “A like-for-like replacement for the Defender would not be appropriate and wouldn’t be legal with safety legislation. We can still capture the essence of the past but in a modern way.

Tata to launch Safari Storme on Oct 17
Safari Storme will be powered by the same 2.2-litre engine, but will now come with an improved suspension and modern chassis.

Tata will launch the new Safari Storme on October 17, 2012. First seen at the Auto Expo 2012, the Safari Storme incorporates some serious changes to make it more desirable, especially considering the ever-increasing competition in its segment.
While the changes to the exterior aren’t as revolutionary as we expected, Tata has made a lot of improvements to the car mechanically. The Safari Storme uses an improved suspension and a modern ladder-frame chassis similar to the one that underpins the Aria. It continues to be powered by the same 140bhp 2.2-litre DiCOR motor, but the engine now feels a lot more responsive. The five-speed G76 manual gearbox has also been tweaked for better refinement.
On the inside, the interiors have been reworked with clean, mature and minimalistic touches all-round. It also manages to retain the previous-gen Safari’s key quality - passenger comfort.
Once launched, the Safari Storme will compete with the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio and the recently-launched Renault Duster. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 10 lakh and, at this price point; it should have enough appeal to still be viewed as an attractive buy.
